Foodstuffs Landscape Bowl

Client: Foodstuffs South Island Ltd

Scope of Work

A  large-scale civic sculpture commissioned by Foodstuffs South Island Ltd and situated in the garden of its Main North Road headquarters in Papanui.

Prominent Christchurch sculptor Neil Dawson was commissioned to design the piece.

The artwork features a laser-cut pattern representing the mountains, plains and braided rivers of Canterbury and is dubbed ‘Landscape Bowl.’

The sculpture is lit up at night with coloured LED lights.

Actions

The 5.3m high stainless steel conical design is 5.7m in diameter and supported by a conical base pedestal.

Hendriks Blasting undertook the application of primer and protective coatings on the artwork, including the gold & silver topcoats for the finished piece.

Taking great care to adhere to the detailed specifications; Hendriks successfully completed this sculpture and delivered it to the installation site.

The Result

A flawless finish fit for public exhibition and displayed prominently at the Foodstuffs headquarters in Main North Road. A client proud to show its support for the local Christchurch sculptor, who also created the Chalice sculpture in Cathedral Square.
